Wow, what a spectacular post. I also LOVE stairs. I won't be having the most exciting set in my new home but they will still be elegant and classical. Polished timber with white risers. I love the Byron Bay home! A-M xx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I think it is clear to say you have a stair obsession. I have a conservatory obsession and one day I will have to do what you did and just post them all. Love your blog, Heidi
ReplyDeletewhat a great collection! it's impossible to pick a favorite, I dream of one day owning a big house with massive statement stairs at the entry hall.
ReplyDeleteThese staircases are just amazing. Some of the most beautiful examples I have ever seen. I think my children would love them too - some of those banisters are just asking to be slid down!

What do you think of Catherine Martin's stairs in the entrance foyer of her home, carpeted in her own design? The proportions may not be as grand as some others, but oh the luxury of ebony stairs. See 2 Vogue Livings ago...

Ooooo, I love stairs too. In fact I am searching for ideas for my staircase. Thanks for posting so many to ponder. I only posted 2 and they were much more humble.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a large grouping of such fantastic stairs.
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of stairways as artwork until now.
Fantastic!

These are indeed all stunning, and permit that much-desired "wow" factor. Any very often they are a great place to display art, especially if there's a cupola or even a skylight above. The one with the the high back slatted chair on the left, (Emily Todhunter?) has a Francis Bacon, and having recently seen an exhibition of his in the Tate London, I have to say it works very well indeed. And if real, would be worth millions of pounds.
ReplyDeletewhat an incredible post! i've never seen so many beautiful stairs!
ReplyDeletec'est une belle idée de nous présenter différents façons de réaliser des escaliers. Les vues sont sublimes!
